Styling

Our styling service aims to shape performance to fit our clients’ requirements. We deal with costume, props and casting, styling professionals, choreographic and musical arrangement. In addition to our extensive ready made collection we can combine, accessorise, adapt and create all of the elements to tailor the finished work to each and every event. 1. Costumes, makeup and props.

We have a large costume department with a team of makers, designers and wardrobe mistresses to keep it in order. Our costumes are designed and created using innovative techniques and beautiful materials from around the world. Our team is bursting with creativity and enthusiasm, constantly developing existing pieces and producing new work. We regularly combine, adapt and accessorise pieces from our extensive wardrobe, including adding lights and sound to any of our costumes. Our recently launched third generation Optioscopes and Light Emitting Dance costumes include detail panels which can be switched or removed to create a multitude of different looks. We can provide endless variations for these detachable detail panels, including geometric shapes, pom-poms, bows and butterflies. We can even create logo panels to match clients’ branding. Many of our costumes started life as commissions. In addition to creating character costumes and props we can match colours and fabrics to decor or logo colours, or create fully branded pieces. To support an events theme and styling objectives we can provide both literal and abstracted designs, e.g. an Africa themed event may come alive with African dancers, or you may prefer animal print Optioscopes or vast, sheer flags appliquéd with swarms of birds, emitting the sounds of the Serengeti.

2. Choreographic arrangement.

Each performance is unique, as differences in casting, music, theme, prop and performance space change every time. We create our choreographed performances from our core movement repertoire, which has been designed to be outrageously adaptable. This makes us almost infinitely flexible in what we can do, and allows us to create fully styled performances without any fuss. Some clients have very particular requirements and may need us to create entirely bespoke choreography. Another elegant approach is to dovetail sections of specially created material with our existing work to create very polished, tailored performances with the minimum commotion.

3. People.

We have an extensive and detailed artist database, with links to many other performance companies. We are happy to put together the group of your choosing and work with you on casting. Our artists are adept at styling themselves but should you require something particularly intricate or unusual we can supply styling professionals with a wealth of specialised skills and experience.

4. Music

We are adept at working to all sorts of music at events, even performing live choreographed pieces to music we have never heard before. Our music library covers many different styles. We welcome requests to preview music samples. If you are not keen on the samples we will send you a wider selection. If they are not right you may wish to use our musical sourcing service; clients can request music, review potential play-lists and ask for changes until happy. We make a small charge for this service. Alternatively, you may wish to provide us with a track. Send it over during the planning stage, our choreographed material is exceptionally flexible so this is usually no problem.
